HYROX is a form of hybrid racing that fuses running with functional fitness.
Across the globe Hyrox races are held in indoor courses, usually within expos, each one structured in the same manner as the rest to guarantee an even playing field.
The races include a 1km running course as well as 8 functional exercise stations including heavy sleds, burpees and wall balls.
Because the race tracks and layouts are standardized, the scores recorded at one race are closely comparable to other races held in completely different continents.
This allows the creation of a WorldWide Leaderboard but also for Hyrox to have a relatively straightforward system when it comes to accessing the World championship stage of racing.
Long story short, if you are thinking of signing up to your first Hyrox race or if you already have, and are curious not just about how the scoring works but where to see your scores, what is a good score and what you need to do to put in the kind of score that unlocks higher stages of racing fret not we’re going to cover all of this and more in this article.
While racing at your chosen event, you will see multiple screens showcasing the times of competitors.
These screens help spectators keep track of their favorite athletes, aS a time reference for the individuals racing on the field and overall help increase race engagement.
But what happens to those times once your race is done?
Time scores are of course recorded and added to the race leaderboard for your specific division as well as the worldwide leaderboard.
You will be able to access and review your score as well as all the others of your race and beyond through the official HYROX website.

Once you’ve reached the Rankings page head to the “Race Results” tab.

There you will find a series of boxes to fill out to identify the race you partook in, your division and then your individual information.
The process is quite straightforward and allows you to locate race results of any athlete, not just yours, from any race across multiple years.

Once you’ve selected the Individual race result a larger tab will pop out with a full report on time breakdown.
This means you won’t just see the total time it took to complete the full race but how much time was spent completing each 1km run and each of the eight stations.

As we mentioned each race result contains a breakdown of time for completion of each run segment as well as for each station.
A few additional data points that are reported and can be very useful for those looking to better breakdown their results to improve on future races are:
Ok so you’ve checked out your score and now you may be wondering: how far off am I exactly from the best scores?
That’s a fair question to ask, especially if you’re looking to move onto the World stage level eventually.
Luckily as we stated before ALL scores from ALL races from ALL years recorded are easily accessible on the HYROX database.
By moving to the “All time ranking” tab on the Ranking HYROX web page you’ll be able to access the full database of all scores ever recorded in order from fastest to slowest.

All scores mean that especially at the top you will see a few familiar names repeat themselves quite a lot as they’ve set several of the best scores oftentimes just to break their own record.
As the sport evolves and more individuals flood the most competitive pinnacle we are bound to see this change slightly.
However, these scores provide for all divisions and age groups a great perspective towards what a “gold standard” time is right now in the sport.
HYROX official YouTube channel released this video explaining how the current system to access the World Championships is set in place:

All divisions have a set number of spots for the WC and each race, depending on its size, will grant a set amount of slots for athletes to get their ticket to the Championships.
If athletes ahead of you in ranking have already earned their ticket to the WC in a previous race that slot may be awarded to you.
Similarly, if athletes in qualifying positions renounce their invite to the Championships that invite will be passed down to the immediately following ranked athlete.
With the sport being so young and more and more races being added to the yearly calendar we can expect this system to slightly change in the next few years to accommodate the expansions of HYROX to a broader population.
As previously mentioned times are broadcasted live at HYROX events on screens set over the race track. But what if you want to follow someone else’s race but can’t make it to the event?
The HYROX website offers a solution to this.

The “Current and Live” tab of the HYROX Ranking page will report all results in real time during the advancement of a HYROX race.
HYROX has made collecting and reviewing race times a straightforward and easily accessible process. This means access to the more advanced stages of competition and what is required to qualify is quite clear-cut.
Additionally, and most importantly, accessing times and score breakdowns allows every athlete to analyze the strongest and weakest points across the race helping them plot a plan to success for their next race.
We strongly encourage everyone who plans to compete more seriously in HYROX to take advantage of this great resource to step up their game.
