2026 CrossFit Open: All You Need to Know

Get ready for the 2026 CrossFit Open with key dates, workout announcements, score submission rules, Quarterfinals qualification, and season format updates.

After experiencing the lowest Open registration in 10 years last year, this season CrossFit switched it up and started the Open hype early.

In an unprecedented move, last October, CrossFit announced where each of this year’s three workouts—26.1, 26.2 and 26.3—will be announced.

2026 Open Dates

January 14: Registration Opens

February 26th: 26.1 Workout Announcement at 12 pm PST from Moffet Air National Guard Base

February 26-March 2: Score Submission Window (You have until 5 pm on March 2nd to submit your score for 26.1).

Do I need to film my workouts?

You do not need to film their workout if you perform the workout with a judge at a validly-licensed CrossFit affiliate in good standing.

If you do not complete the workout at a validly-licensed CrossFit affiliate, then you are required to upload a working YouTube link of your workout to the CrossFit Games website.

How to Advance to Quarterfinals

After discontinuing Quarterfinals last season, they are back this year, and serve as the second stage of the CrossFit Games season.

This year, like the 2024 season, the top 25 percent of athletes from the worldwide Open leaderboard will advance to Quarterfinals.

Quarterfinals Dates: March 26-30 (for individuals and age group athletes

Team Eligibility

This season, each participant on a team needs to be registered on the affiliate’s roster by March 2. Each member must complete the Open workout at the same physical location as the team’s affiliate, except athletes who are competing at Wodapalooza, as they will do 26.3 during that competition.

2026 Open Workouts

26.1 TBA

26.2 TBA

26.3 TBA

One more thing: Like last season, CrossFit Games prize money will be directly tied to Open registration numbers. If you’re interested in staying up-to-date with registration numbers, Mike Halpin with Known & Knowable is your guy.

  • For reference, last year, 233,815 people registered for the Open, down 32 percent from 2024, while 2018 saw the highest number of registrants of all-time with 416,000.

Can we hit 300,000 this season?
